Set up your salon from zero to live
Complete these steps before accepting your first customer through STYJOIN. This operational guide explains the exact setup requirements to ensure your services, staff, workstation chairs, and hours work harmoniously.
Ensure you have your official salon name, primary business mobile number (ready to receive verification OTPs), physical workstation chair count, and your service price list with estimated minute durations.
1. Register your salon
To begin bringing your salon onto the STYJOIN platform, navigate to the salon registration form. You will provide fundamental business information that uniquely identifies your salon establishment.
Required Registration Information:
- Official Salon Name: The public trading name of your salon as displayed on your signage.
- Owner Contact Mobile: Used for primary login authentication and administrative communications.
- City & Location Address: The physical address where customer services will be performed.
- Estimated Chair Count: The baseline count of styling chairs you plan to operate.
Do not assume immediate automatic activation upon registration. Every new salon listing undergoes an operational merchant review to verify location authenticity and prevent duplicate listings. You will be able to configure your services and staff while verification is being completed.
2. Complete your salon profile
Your salon profile is what customers see when searching for nearby salons in the STYJOIN discovery feed. It provides the essential context customers need before deciding to join your live queue or book a reservation.
Profile Fields Supported in Salon Admin:
- Salon Description: A concise summary of your salon, styling philosophy, and customer experience.
- Precise Address & Landmark: Pinpoint street details to ensure customers arrive at the correct entrance.
- Amenities Checklist: Check off available amenities such as Air Conditioning, Wi-Fi, Card/UPI payments, and Customer Parking.
- Primary Contact Phone: Visible on customer receipts and booking vouchers for appointment queries.
3. Add your services
In STYJOIN, every service you offer contains both a price and an estimated duration in minutes.
“Service duration is used when STYJOIN calculates availability and manages reservations.”
When a customer joins the live queue, the system looks at the remaining durations of treatments currently in the chairs to estimate wait times. When a customer books a scheduled appointment, the service duration dictates exactly how long that workstation chair is held.
When adding a service, enter:
- Service Name: Descriptive title of the treatment (e.g. Executive Haircut).
- Price: The standard rate charged to the customer.
- Duration: Estimated total chair time in minutes (e.g. 15m, 30m, 45m, 60m).
- Category: Assign to a category such as Men, Women, Unisex, Color, or Spa.
4. Add your staff
Configure the stylists and team members who work on your salon floor. Adding staff allows you to track individual chair turnover and route appointments accurately.
Staff Attributes in STYJOIN:
- Staff Name: The stylist's name as it will appear on customer tickets and appointment confirmations.
- Availability Status: Stylists can toggle between “Accepting Work” and “On Break” so waiting queue entries are never dispatched to team members who are unavailable.
- Specialties: Notable styling proficiencies (e.g. Fade & Beard, Color Specialist, Facial Treatment).
- Station Assignments: Mapping stylists to dedicated primary chairs (e.g. Rohan → Chair 01).
5. Add your salon chairs
Understanding how chairs work in STYJOIN is critical for smooth floor management. There is an essential operational distinction:
The actual, permanent styling and treatment workstations physically installed in your salon. This establishes your salon's hard operational ceiling.
The number of stations currently free to accept a new customer right now, reflecting live treatments in progress and upcoming reservations.
STYJOIN Chair States on the Floor:
- Serving (Active Occupancy): The workstation is occupied with a client receiving a service.
- Reserved (Scheduled Booking): The workstation is held for an imminent confirmed reservation, preventing queue walk-ins from taking that station.
- Available (Ready Now): The workstation is prepared and ready to seat the next customer in the live queue.
6. Set your operating hours
Operating hours determine the standard schedule during which your salon is considered open for customer activity. Customers looking at your profile in the app will see your daily opening and closing times.
Regardless of your weekly hours, your Salon Admin provides a master open/closed toggle so you can pause queues or handle unexpected early closures at any time with one tap.
7. Review before going live
Before accepting real customers, run through this pre-launch verification checklist in your admin console:
8. Go live
Once your verification has been approved by the STYJOIN merchant team and your setup checklist is complete, your salon is ready to become active and visible to customers.
Conditions for Salon Floor Activation:
- ✓ Merchant account verification status is confirmed.
- ✓ At least one service with valid pricing and duration is active.
- ✓ Physical chair workstation count is set above zero.
- ✓ Daily operating status is set to “Open”.
When these operational conditions are met, your salon appears in the nearby customer discovery feed, and walk-in guests can join your queue via your salon QR standee or mobile search.
Your first customer
STYJOIN handles two primary customer journeys. Understanding how both interact with your floor ensures your staff can operate with confidence from day one:
LIVE QUEUE JOURNEY
Finds your salon in the app or scans the QR code at your reception desk.
Chooses treatment (e.g. Haircut, 30 min) and reviews transparent pricing.
Ticket is generated (e.g. #Q-104) and added to your Salon Admin Queue Feed.
Watches countdown. Can report Running Late (+10, +20, +30m) once if delayed.
Arrives when called, steps into prepared chair, and service begins.
RESERVATION JOURNEY
Picks treatment requiring dedicated scheduled time (e.g. 90m Color Treatment).
Chooses slot verified against physical chair availability and stylist shifts.
Completes deposit to lock slot; GST-compliant receipt is generated.
Chair is locked in advance with anti-overlap protection against walk-ins.
Arrives at scheduled time and is seated immediately without waiting.

Practical answers to operational questions salon owners encounter during their initial week on STYJOIN:
What is the difference between Live Queue and a Reservation?
Live Queue handles immediate, dynamic demand (walk-ins and remote joiners who want a service now). Reservations handle planned demand scheduled in advance for a future date and time. STYJOIN coordinates both so reservations and walk-ins never collide for the same chair.
Can a customer join my queue remotely?
Yes. When your salon is open and queue capacity is available, customers can discover your salon and join the queue from their mobile device before leaving home, as well as by scanning your QR code at your front desk.
What happens when a customer is Running Late?
If a customer reports running late, they select an estimated delay (+10, +20, or +30 minutes). The queue recalculates sequence, allowing prompt guests to be seated ahead while holding the delayed customer's ticket in the queue.
Can a customer use Running Late more than once?
No. To maintain fair sequencing for all customers in line, Running Late can be reported only once per queue entry.
How does chair capacity work?
Floor availability is derived from your physical workstation setup: Physical Chairs minus Currently Serving minus Reserved Slots equals Operationally Available Chairs.
Why is a chair unavailable?
A chair is marked unavailable if a customer treatment is currently in progress, if the chair is held for an upcoming confirmed reservation, or if the assigned stylist has toggled their status to “On Break”.
What happens when a service is completed?
When staff clicks “Complete Service” on an active chair, that chair immediately returns to Available status, updating floor capacity and alerting the next queued guest.
How do I manage reservations alongside walk-ins?
You do not have to manage them manually. STYJOIN's anti-overlap engine locks chair availability ahead of confirmed reservations, ensuring walk-in queue assignments do not overlap into booked slots.
